One thing I noticed when I did my hand lettering class is that my students had a hard time choosing a quote, a word or a verse. Don’t let something like this stop you from working towards a great design piece.
As I said, I started hand lettering because of my daughter’s birthday, it was “Please Come In”. Then it spawned off to Bible verses since they are far easier for me to find and relate to than random quotes.
So if you’re looking for the “right” quote or word to start your project, go with your name, or even copy someone else’s work. Look for the title of your favourite book. Once you get the hang of hand lettering, then start looking for meaningful words or quotes.
